In the 2017 Origin series, N.S.W fielded an unprecedented 5 Indigenous players in all 3 games. Word around the missions have got us asking what an all Aboriginal N.S.W origin side would look like. Let’s take a look at a potential team below.
Hooker: This is an easy one as Nathan Peats is the current N.S.W Hooker.
Front Row: Another easy selection with Andrew Fifita & Ryan James slotting in together with Leilani Latu coming in off the bench.
Second Row: Joel Thompson is a quality pick together with Wade Graham & Bulldogs enforcer Adam Elliot. Chris Grevsmuhl & Kyle Turner would be welcome inclusions coming in off the bench to keep the engine room rolling.
So far this has been a relatively easy task but with an oversupply of quality Indigenous backs lets begin the impossible task of trying to fit them all in together.
Halves: Cody Walker keeps his usual #No 6 jersey and Aidan Sezer comes in as a quality halves partner who also keeps his regular club position at #No 7.
Centres: For the centres, we are going to go with Tyrone Peachey at left centre & Blake Ferguson at right centre.
Wingers: We can’t go past the kings of speed in Josh Addo Carr & James Roberts to create the fastest back line in Rugby league history.
Fullback: This would come down to a fight between Latrell Mitchell & Jack Wighton.
Super sub: We are going to go with Jack Bird but we would just as happily throw in Bevan French to ask some questions for any opposing side at the end of each half.
Keep your eyes on all of these names because there is a very real chance that Indigenous representation in the NSW team could reach as high as 88% in 2018.
