After several months of one sided news coverage and debate from Alice Springs, Indigenous communities are now speaking up about Jacinta Price and Australia Day.
If you only listened to Jacinta Price you would most likely believe that debate about Australia Day is something that does not happen in Central Desert communities of the Northern Territory. This is the message we have seen all over the headlines for almost two months now.
These communities are now standing up to show Jacinta and the rest of Australia that her views are simply not true. Just yesterday in the middle of Alice Springs, the local Indigenous community held a last day of freedom event.
The same community that Pat Cash spoke about in his recent public comments about Australia’s mistreatment of Indigenous people have now released a series of videos and posts which detail just how disconnected their communities have become. Disconnected from water, sewerage and electricity that is.
The Childrens Ground organisation have also released the following post which gives a first hand account about opinions relating to Australia Day.
