In news just in, Clinton Pryor has received notification from the Governor General’s office that the Governor General will not meet with Clinton at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy.
On a post today on Clinton’s Facebook page, Clinton stated, “He’s refusing to come out and discuss issues with me and Aboriginal Elder’s at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy. Instead his office insists only on a 1-on-1 conversation, and only up at Government House.
I think it’s time for everyone to give their office a phone call and politely ask the Governor General to come out and meet with me and the Aboriginal Elders at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy on September 6.
Here’s the number: (02) 6283 3533
Where is the respect for Sovereign First Nation people?? I have walked 5500km, Elders are traveling from across the country and the Governor General refuses to come out and hear their stories and take their messages for the Queen??”
We totally agree with Clinton, it a complete sign of disrespect to Clinton, the Elders and all of Indigenous Australia. Next Wednesday, September 6th is when Clinton will meet with the Governor General and this has the chance to be a huge moment in terms of reconciliation in Australia. Why are we still being treated like fringe dwellers? We are sovereign people and we should be treated with respect. Our terms should be listened to, not ignored.
