There are explosive allegations surrounding yet another Aboriginal death in custody.
A NSW family is in shock tonight after a young Aboriginal man became the latest Aboriginal death in custody. The man is believed to have died earlier today in Tamworth hospital where he was in in the intensive care unit.
We won’t release any names or images until it becomes clear that the family have agreed to do so. But what we can say, is that there are some very serious allegations surrounding this latest death in custody.
A close friend of the young man has alleged that corrective officers in Tamworth jail bashed and then proceeded to hang the young Indigenous man in order to cover it up as suicide. The friend said the young man had suffered a significant amount of injuries that showed he was in a struggle. The friend went on to say that he also had blood and skin under his fingernails as well. The friend also alleged that there is 1 hour of video surveillance unaccounted for in the jail.
Update: For anyone in the Tamworth/Armidale area, there are plans for a protest at the Tamworth Correctional centre today (Saturday) at 1:00pm.
