This week, 13 year old Jack Peris, the son of former Olympic gold medalist, Nova Peris, had a breakout performance at the Victorian All School Knockout Athletics Championship.

The competition was open to schools from across Australia. Peris (13 yrs) competed in the Junior boys competition which included sprinters that were 1 and 2 years his senior. Age was no barrier for Jack as he recorded the fastest 100m time of 11.61 seconds which was a personal best for the young Indigenous speedster.
Jack is also the current U15 National Champion for the 400m distance which is the same event that Nova competed in at the Sydney Olympics. Nova still has bragging rights though as Jack’s personal bests are still a fraction behind his mothers personal bests in the 100m, 200m & 400m events.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for Jack Peris as he breaks his mothers personal bests and breaks into the open age divisions in the years ahead.
