United Nations Special Rapporteur Victoria Tauli-Corpuz has revealed that her report could have serious repercussions for Australia.
Australia hopes of becoming members of the United Nations Human Rights Council is in serious doubt. United Nations Special Rapporteur Victoria Tauli-Corpuz has revealed to NITV that Australia has some serious issues to resolve before Australia can be considered a leader on the human rights front.
Tauli-Corpuz has been very critical of Australia’s Indigenous incarceration rates and the recent fiasco surrounding Aboriginal youth imprisonment which resulted in a Royal Commission. She also took aim at Australia’s inability to allow true self determination for Indigenous people. Tauli-Corpuz also took aim at the Indigenous advancement strategy that is a bureaucratic mess.
